Overview

Casa Sabina is a conversion and expansion project that transforms a single-family home into a multi-family complex featuring two suites and three apartments. More than a remodel, this project addresses the need to preserve a family’s history while adapting to a contemporary way of living. The intervention respected the essence of the house by minimizing demolition and reusing its original structure. The foyer was preserved as the core of the design, while terraces were added to enhance the connection with the surroundings. Existing materials were exposed to highlight the authenticity of the space.

Result

Casa Sabina strikes a balance between memory and renewal, allowing its owner to generate income without losing her home. The efficient redistribution of space and the integration of a new upper volume respected the original scale of the house, ensuring a harmonious transition between the existing structure and the new additions. Natural lighting and visuals were essential to enhancing the warmth of the interiors, while reclaimed brick walls and other materials added texture and character to the project. Beyond the physical transformation, Casa Sabina reinterprets the value of architecture as a bridge between history and the future, adapting the home to a new life without losing its essence.
